Tasty Tex-Mex at Ula’s| Best Tex-Mex in Houston
Ula’s Mexican Food Restaurant is serving some of the Best tex-mex in Houston. I’ve had a lot of tex-mex and authentic Mexican food, but in my opinion this was one of the best. The food’s rich flavors are rooted in Chiapas, Mexico; where Chef Ulises Gonzalez first sharpened his knives. Check out my video below!
We started with the Campechana. The citrus from the lime really made the flavors from the fresh gulf shrimp, crab and tomato’s come to life! The extra helping of avocados was a huge plus and the mix of spices was spot on. But the star of the meal was our second selection.
The Mexican Smoked Ribs knocked my socks off. The rub was a prefect combo of spicy-sweet and as I bit into the juicy, tender meat it just fell off the bone. I am very serious when I say you have to order this dish when you visit Ula’s, you wont regret it!
Our server “Skeet” was an added plus. He was passionate about food and knew a lot about the menu. He and Co-Owner Brady played a huge role, suggesting the bulk, if not all of what we ate. Great choices all around. The fajitas are the hottest item on the menu, period. Flavorful meat is the name of the game. The Vallarta Mix consists of fajita shrimp, chicken and beef and is served with grilled veggies, rice and beans. The tortillas are MADE IN HOUSE and are paper thin and ridiculously good.
The meal ended with the best Tres Leche in the Washington Corridor. Tres Leches isn’t a favorit of mine because of the milk content but this cake was perfection. Ula’s Tres Leche had the perfect balance of moist and soft cake. The Creme had notes of vanilla and cinnamon, excellent.
