Rosè All Day | Top Picks | Austin Food + Wine Fest

Rosè flowed from nearly every tent at Austin Food + Wine Festival. The perfect treat for the awesome weather the Gods blessed festival goers with this past weekend. As an avid believer in giving praise where praise is due, I bring to you my “Rosè All Day” list. Highlighting my top festival sips!

Sofia rosé from  Virginia Dare Winery, in Sonoma County was light, easy and enjoyable. The vibrant pink color is acquired from the soaking of the pinot noir grapes. Their skin lends to the color. This is common for a couple other wines you will see in this post. Paso Robles winemaker Austin Hope world renowned Chef Tim Love came together to create “Love and Hope,” a rosé that’s light, crisp and refreshing. Perfect for the Austin weather, this rosé was quite the palate pleaser.

Did you know that rose was the No.1  French wine sold in the US besides champagne? No? Well neither did I until I visited the Sacha Lichine tent. Also of note, when chilled rosé tastes like water. Sacha Lichine served their single blend rosé all weekend long. This mashup of both grenache and cinsault grapes created a dry,  yet balanced sip.

Pioneer Wine & Spirits served two Chilean rosé wines: Boya Rosè (2016) and Fount Rosè. Both wines were a golden pink with notes of notes of grapefruit. A bit dryer than the others, but enjoyable when properly chilled. Finally, the N°69 Crémant de Bourgogne from Jean-Charles Boisset (JCB). A light, jammy wine who’s name is inspired by the year of Jean-Charles’ birth (1969).

Thanks to all the brand ambassadors and sommeliers that allowed me several pours of their ripe rosé wines! Check out the photo gallery below.
