Revelry On Richmond: Now Serving Lunch!
Revelry On Richmond is probably known best for their forty rotating local and select craft brews on tap, full cocktail and wine menu, live music, flat screen TV’s and killer happy hour. Well, now they’re serving lunch, and my most recent visit was delicious!
Revelry On Richmond, Houston’s super chill sports and craft beer bar is nestled in the heart of Houston’s Museum District. Its casual environment and neighborhood feel makes it the go to destination to grab a drink, watch your favorite sports team, and enjoy one of their sweet outdoor patios. But it will soon be known as your new, favorite lunch spot on Richmond.
Although I am “Revelry virgin” I’ve spent way too much time next door at Maria Selma, slamming margaritas and inhaling avocado enchiladas. So when I was invited out to try Revelry on Richmond’s new lunch program I was not only excited, but knew exactly where I was going! Revelry on Richmond is known to be a “bar,” but during the day it’s a family-friendly lunch spot serving easy appetizers, burgers and tacos.
We started with the Seafood Campenchana. Though not as tasty as Ula’s Tex-Mex, it was sufficient and had great flavor. This was set to share, so I got the avocado on the side. If I’d had it my way, the avocado would have been all up in the mix.
Usually for lunch, I try to do something a little “lighter” as to combat the “3pm slugs.” Additionally, I am watching my red meat intake so I decided not to do the burger or fajita tacos, and please believe they were calling my name. Instead I went with “The Hot Chick” and Fajita Tacos (Chicken).
The Hot Chick was spot on, from the soft, buttery whole wheat bun to the juicy, marinated grilled chicken. The house-made pickled onions and ginger vinaigrette provided the perfect pucker when paired with the mild arugula and sliced beefsteak tomato. For lunch Revelry on Richmond offers five taco choice from the “Taco Truck” section of their menu.
Revelry’s Fajita tacos come with your choice of meat (beef or chicken) and beans (borracho or black beans) pico de gallo, avocado, red cabbage, queso fresco and house-made jalapeno aioli. Our table was mistakenly served us beef fajitas the first time and we didn’t even notice. Our server Ashten, caught it and rectified the situation immediately — great service!
Revelry on Richmond also serves cocktails from their full bar during lunch. I really wish we could go back to the 30’s and 40’s (minus the whole “great depression” thing). Back then drinking scotch in your office while smoking a stogie was the acceptable thing to do in preparation for a meeting or busy day, but I digress. I sampled a couple of their new summer menu adds for you guys… of course.
Ashten informed me that all the drinks above ” Too Good Stubbe True” were their new cocktails. The cool part about the drinks is that they are all inspired by the in house bar staff. I’ve concluded that they’re scientists. I sampled the Jeannie’s Chones Margarita and the Bourbon Berry Smash. Both were great, the hibiscus liqueur was a nice, sweet touch to the traditional margarita. I happen to be a fan of Woodford Reserve Bourbon since trying it at an event last year. It’s smooth and mixes great with just about anything, and stands alone quite well.
Revelry On Richmond serves lunch Monday – Friday from 11 am – 2 pm, so grab your co-workers, the kids or a lunch buddy and grab a sit inside or on the patio. Tell them Gristle & Gossip sent you!
