“WHO GOT GIZZARDS?” A chicken competition,  that took place this past Friday was surely the highlight of my weekend. A gaggle of food trucks took Midtown Mobile Food Truck Park by storm all in the name of gizzards!

St. John’s Fire Truck (@firetrucktx) took the challenge to heart and went up against some pretty tough competition from Soul Cat Cuisine (@themothershiphtx) who was serving up piping hot gizzards and “pimp sticks” with 2 special sauce variations. These are the gizzards that I grew up eating. I just knew at first bite that Mr. Stokes would steal the show but St. John’s held on tight and came out on top with their own unique spin.

St. John’s prepared 2 dishes: a tasty chicken sandwich with bacon and brie and their spicy/sweet gizzards dressed with fried potatoes and jalapenos. Both seemed to be a real crowd pleaser but Soul Cat Cuisine was my choice, because when indulging in these fried, oh-so good chicken organs I am usually chugging beers with one hand and using the other hand to dip these digestive tract treasures in hot sauce. There is absolutely no room for a knife, fork or napkins
